Here is the fourth webisode by Murray Perahia, in which he presents his thoughts on each dance of Bach's 4th French Suite.

He tells about his personal feeling of going outdoors and entering nature in this suite, which could be interpreted as Bach's wish to greet the day. Another particularity of this suite is that the Courante is not contrasting with the Allemande as usual, but is rather amplifying that feeling.
